Melbourne Cup Event

This is one of the most popular spectator events in Australia. Melbourne Cup is major annual thoroughbred horse race that is allowed for three year olds and over. The race has a distance of 3,200 meters and billed as the race stops a nation. Melbourne Cup also regarded as the most two-mile’s world prestigious handicap. Usually, the event held in November’s first Tuesday by the Victoria Racing Club. The race located in Melbourne at the Flemington Racecourse.

In 2007, the winner was Efficient horse that ridden by Michael Rodd, owned by Lloyd Williams and trained by Graeme Rogerson. Since Phar Lap, Efficient has became the first winner of the Victoria Derby, before won the Melbourne Cup in the following year. In over the past 10 years, the race has undergone for several alterations, the most visible in the last decade being the arrival of many foreign-trained horses to contest the race. In 1993 and 2002, the first two successful of “foreign raids” reached by trainer from Irish Dermot K. Weld and one in 2006 by Katsumi Yoshida from Japan. These compete of foreigners attraction was change to the new weighting system of quality handicap.

Usually, Melbourne Cup have over 110,000 people attending to the race, which dressed in traditional formal race-day wear and some dressed in amusing and all manner of exotic costumes while others.
