Like you said, purchasing an ad could be considered buying traffic. PPC is another form of traffic that works for many. When I think of buying traffic I think of traffic brokers and traffic exchanges. That's just a huge waste of time. Good content, hard work (that's right, I said it) and persistence is what it takes.
