idog picturesA weblog or most people simply called a blog, is a website that features or ‘publishes’ articles, which aree called ‘posts’, ‘entries’ or ‘blog posts’, written by a group or an individual. A blog make use of a combination of the component such as list below:

· Straight texts
· Photographs or images or called as photoblog
· Video or called as videoblog
· Audio files or called as audioblog
· Hyperlinks

Arranged and presented usually in reverse chronological order. Blogs or wblogs are used for the following purposes essentially:

· Online journal or a web diary
· CMS or Content managament system
· Online publishing platform

Usually a typical blog has the components below:

· Post date : the blog entry date and time
· Category : the category of articles in the blog
· Title : the blog title
· Main body : the blog main content
· RSS and trackback : links back to articles or content from other blog sites
· Comments : readers that allows to make or add commentaries
· Permalinks : the full article post URL
· Other optional items : archives, calendar, blogrolls, and plug-ins or add-ons

Also a blog can have a footer, that shows the the author, post date, the category, and the ‘stats’ that the nubmer of trackbacks or comments, usually found at the blog bottom.

Blogs have numerous of types. The following are some of them:

1. Political blog : on political news, activism, or other issue such as campaigning based blogs.

2. Personal blog : known as online diary, usually include an individual’s day-to-day complaints, experience, illicit thoughts and poems, between friends communications.

3. Topical blog : usually technical in a local or nature information with focus either on a particular niche.

4. Health blog : It is a major category of health blog. Medical blog features medical news from actual patient cases and/or health care professionals.

5. Literary blog : also known as litblog.

6. Travel blog : usually focus on a stories of particular journey travelers.

7. Research blog : usually on academic issues such as research notes.

8. Legal blog : also known as ‘blawgs’; usually on legal affairs and law in technical areas.

9. Media blog : usually focus on inconsistencies or falsehoods in mass media; exclusive for a television network or a newspaper.

10. Religious blog
: on religious topics

11. Educational blog : usually written by teachers and students on educational applications.

12. Collective or Collaborative blog : written by people in a group in a specific topic.

13. Directory blog : is a numerous web sites collection.

14. Business blog : used by corporate employees and entrepreneurs to talk about their work or promote their businesses.

15. Personification blog : focus on objects or non-human being.

16. Spam blogs : also known as ‘splogs’; used for promoting affiliated websites.

Typically, Blogging is done on a regular basis, almost daily. The “blogging” term refers to the act of maintaining, adding or authoring an article to an existing blog, while the term “blogger” refers to a group or a person who keeps a blog.

More than 3 million blogs can be found in the Internet today. As the availability of various blog tools, software and other applications, this figure is continuously growing, make it easier, even those with little or no technical background, for just about anyone to maintain or update the blog. Bloggers can now be categorized into 4 main types, caused of this trend:

· People who focus on topic that an individual feels strongly such a diary called Personal bloggers.

· People who focus on promoting services and products called Business bloggers.

· People who focus on external or internal communication in a community or an organization called Organizational bloggers.

· People who are paid or hired to do blogging called Professional bloggers.

Problogging or professional blogging refers to blogging for a profit. Probloggers, as a hired blogger or an individual blog publisher, are people who make money from blogging.

Some of the many money-making opportunities for probloggers are:

· Affiliate Programs
· Advertising programs
· Sponsorship
· Donations
· RSS advertising
· Digital assets
· Business blog writing gigs
· Blog network writing gigs
· Non blogging writing gigs
· Merchandising
· Consulting and speaking
· Flipping blogs

To consider if you want to be successful in problogging, the following are a few things that you need:

1. Be patient. Not to mention a long-term vision, problogging requires a lot of time and effort.

2. Know your audience. A key to building a readership is targeting a specific group or audience

3. Be an ‘expert’. Focus and strive on a specific niche topic.

4. Diversify. Try some experiment with various affiliate programs and ads, aside from blogging, that enable you to make money online.

5. Do not make your readers bored. Bigger fonts, line spacings, and white spaces, make your blog welcoming to read. Just focus on the layout.

At last, to earn money from blogs is possible. In order to be a successful problogger, all the needs to take the passion, take risks, and the right attitude.
