SEO for image/picture

One of the site’s elements that often escape from our attention are optimizing images for SEO. With the better algorithm of search engine (Google especially) for pictures file, time after times have a good contribution to make visitors from search engines. I have got the benefits from this, while Google’s index disorderly confusion, visitors are still coming through the image.

Actually, the SEO process for an image not too difficult. Below are the things that you must care about:

Take advantage of the naming image files:

-  Just include keywords.
-  Use underscores or as a substitute for space.
-  Avoid naming the file’s too long or use too many keyword / phrase’s (max. 5 words).
-  Avoid repetition of keywords.

Example: nintendo_wii.jpg, nokia_3250_cellphone.gif.

Take advantage of ALT attribute in the IMG tag:

-  Include your keywords and use the description in the form of a sentence, not just write down its keywords.
-  If in one article there are more than one picture, let’s give different ALT attribute value to each picture.
-  If in one article there are more than one image, avoiding repetition of keywords.
-  If the article is enough contain keywords, fill ALT attribute with the typo of keywords.
-  Avoid the ALT attribute’s value that is too long.

Example: “Front Side of the Nintendo Wii“, “Nokia 3250 celphone“.
