These days RSS directories are popular. To allow others to syndicate their news stories, RSS is widely used initially by news sites. A lot of other websites are using RSS now. It is being used in flagging new forum auction listings, headlines,  sales listings and others.

Actually, the meaning of RSS is not clear. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication, but others say its Rich Site Summary or sometimes Rich Syndication Standard.
